Abstract
This milestone creates upstream value across the entire ecosystem. Accessibility knowledge is distributed through working examples, and not only through documentation, for both extension developers and a broader audience of site builders and content editors. By delivering an installable sample dataset system, three reference datasets, and a developer-facing guide on accessible sample content, this milestone gives the community a copy-and-learn-from resource that complements the design system, the templates, and the test protocols from earlier milestones.
Milestone 4 depends on the frontend template delivered in Milestone 3a and on the test protocols and acceptance criteria established in Milestone 1a.
Scope of work
Deliverable 1: Installable Sample Dataset System
Create an installable sample dataset system for Joomla. The system must be:
- Easy to install during initial Joomla setup
- Easy to install later from the Joomla backend
- Easy to remove completely, or partially, in order to clean out the instance
Deliverable 2: Three Accessible Sample Datasets for Joomla Core
Create three sample datasets for Joomla core that serve as reference implementations of accessible content. Each dataset must demonstrate:
- Proper heading structures
- Meaningful alternative text on images and media
- Accessible form patterns
- Correct use of landmarks
- Multilingual content
The three datasets should be sufficiently distinct from each other so that they cover a meaningful range of typical Joomla use cases (for example, a typical content site, a multilingual site, and a form/interaction-heavy site). The exact split is to be proposed by the applicant.
Deliverable 3: WCAG 2.2 AA Validation of All Sample Datasets
Validate all sample datasets against WCAG 2.2 AA using the new frontend template from Milestone 3a and the test protocols and AT/browser combinations from Milestone 1a (minimum matrix: NVDA + Chrome, JAWS + Edge, VoiceOver + Safari). Results must be recorded against the acceptance criteria from Milestone 1a.
Deliverable 4: Developer Documentation for Accessible Sample Data
Produce documentation for extension developers on how to create and integrate accessible sample data for their own extensions. The documentation must include a checklist for accessible content patterns that extension developers can apply directly.
Deliverable 5: Documentation and Milestone Report
Maintain the programme documentation framework and produce the milestone completion report in the format agreed with OSM at kick-off.
