Abstract​

This milestone turns a one-time investment into a repeatable process. The validation against the Milestone 1a test protocols closes the loop on the design system work, confirming that both the public-facing template from Milestone 3a and the admin environment from Milestone 3b deliver real, measurable accessibility for actual users with assistive technologies, and not only in component-level tests.

Milestone 3c depends on the deliverables of Milestones 3a (Frontend Template) and 3b (Backend Template) and on the test protocols and acceptance criteria established in Milestone 1a. Its outputs make the framework-agnostic template approach reproducible for future Joomla major versions and for third-party template developers.

Scope of work​

Deliverable 1: Validation of Both Templates Against the Milestone 1a Test Protocols​

Validate both the frontend template from Milestone 3a and the updated admin template from Milestone 3b against the test protocols defined in Milestone 1a. The validation must include:

  • Screen-reader testing with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
  • Coverage of key user journeys for both the public-facing site and the admin environment
  • Validation of RTL layouts
  • Validation of mobile viewports
  • Results recorded against the acceptance criteria from Milestone 1a, with any issues categorised by severity and mapped to the relevant WCAG 2.2 success criterion

Deliverable 2: Documented Template Starter Kit​

Produce a documented template starter kit that enables template developers to create new accessible templates for future Joomla major versions using the design system. The starter kit must include:

  • A working example template, built on the design system from Milestone 2
  • Setup instructions covering the typical template-development workflow
  • A checklist for WCAG 2.2 AA conformance, derived from the Milestone 1a test protocols and acceptance criteria
  • Guidance on how to apply the starter kit to both frontend and admin contexts

Deliverable 3: Documentation and Milestone Report​

Maintain the programme documentation framework and produce the milestone completion report in the format agreed at kick-off.
